I have had the nicest bit of oval-shaped wood in the gallery for over a year waiting for something and suddenly it seemed just right that the story of three little boys headed into dreamland was exactly what it was waiting for. I finished this today. It’s for a child’s bed headboard, something delish to explore, to dream under, to travel to far off mystical and strange and fabulous places. Dolphins frolic in the wake of their ship; the title rests in the cloud; angels guide and protect them through a starry night of sea and sky and flying fish…..
(The First Verse):
Winken, Blinken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe —
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
“Where are you going, and what do you wish?”
The old moon asked the three.
“We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!”
Said Winken, Blinken, and Nod.”
