Bumble Bee Homing, All Else Kaleidoscope

The bee. I paint a lot of plants and flowers and insects. When I started this I realized how much the flower petal I was painting was like the bee’s wing and wondered to what extent

insects are drawn to things that look like themselves. So I emphasized that. I also thought an insect may experience myopia when it’s homing in on nourishment, and that all of the atmosphere and color and form around it might just kaleidoscope into a haze. So I painted that, too.
